Columbia, Jeff White, Bag Claim, October 23, 2015 – February 12, 2017
Portland, Oregon painter Jeff White holds a BFA from the Art Center College of Design of Pasadena, California, and is known for his colorful, dramatic landscapes and skyscapes. He specializes in oil and pastel paintings. His greatest inspiration comes from his experiences with nature, specifically in the Columbia Gorge and Northwest coastal regions.
Jeff captures the beauty and color of great landscapes but, moreover, strives to evoke the power of the external and internal forces that one often experiences in nature. “My work represents a spiritual journey and the balance found in the harmonies I see between the environment and man as a voyeur passing through time,” he explains. “I use thin glazes and layers of transparent pigments to emulate the atmospheric conditions that exist in the natural world.”
