A new mural commissioned by Oregon Film and created by artist and graphic designer Nick Stokes is now on view in Concourse B, honoring more than a century of filmmaking in Oregon. Digitally created and designed by Nick Stokes and printed as a large-scale mural, the work salutes the state’s film history, the crews and creatives who power production, and the Oregon locations that bring stories to life.

Travelers encounter a visual timeline that spans seasons, eras, and landscapes. Nearly 60 films are represented, drawn from Oregon’s catalog of more than 700 productions made across the state since 1909. Visitors are invited to look closely for dozens of easter eggs woven throughout the artwork. Some highlight key moments in Oregon’s film history, while others nod to familiar locations, behind-the-scenes stories, and cultural touchpoints from productions across the state. Nick Stokes brought this vision to life through his playful and vibrant illustration. Stokes’ love of film is evident in this mural with a comprehensive visual ode to Oregon’s creative history. He writes, “Creating something that intertwines my love for film, illustration, and my Oregon roots was both an honor and a joy.”
Nick Stokes is an illustrator and art director born, raised, and currently based in Portland, OR. He worked at the Portland-based ad agency Wieden + Kennedy for over a decade and continues to maintain a freelance illustration career. Stokes has worked with many prominent brands and creatives both locally and nationally.
This mural at PDX connects to the Oregon Film Trail, Oregon’s official statewide film trail, which is the first of its kind in the United States. Many locations featured in the mural can be explored on the Trail using SetJetters, Oregon Film’s partner app for finding and visiting real filming locations.

The Hollywood Theatre provided collaboration, including creative development and production support by Jenny Lee and Gareth Smith. Koerner Camera Systems contributed as a supporting partner.
